Description

The 'Bath Water' jug is hand made from stoneware clay and decorated using coloured slips and a stencil resist technique. On the base is the story of Bath Water: According to legend, Prince Bladud founded Bath in 860BC after bathing in the hot springs to cure his leprosy. The Romans named the city Aqua Sulis after the spa. Unique in the UK the healing Bath water is naturally a warm 45ºC.

Each jug is unique due to the nature of hand making and the unpredictability of the kiln firing. They are sturdy, functional and dishwasher proof and sometimes display characteristic minor imperfections.

Camden Clay

Bath, England

Hello I'm Steve Kamlish. My thing is words on plates. I'm interested in typographic quotes, idioms and slang all related to food. The history of a word or phrase fascinates me and I love breathing new life into an obscure saying, slang or film quote.

My work is all hand made from our home studio in Bath. The kiln sits in a vault beneath the pavement of Camden Road.
